A blog. What even is a blog?
An online diary for dumping my not-so-private dramatic thoughts, like Zoey101 (shoutout to 90’s kids)? A place to impart my self-proclaimed wisdom on those willing to listen? Or simply a place to practice writing, with no real sense of direction or commitment?
I imagine this blog will act most similar to the latter, though not entirely. In its purest form, I believe this will serve as a journal for my thoughts and journey as I continually grow, a place to make sense of the things I’m learning as I go, and an organized platform for recording and sharing these things. I think it’s healthy to have a place to jot down thoughts, to organize them, and thereby begin making sense of them holistically. Plus, as an external-processor, a structured opportunity to “word vomit” is typically a great foundation for a better understanding of self, others, and circumstances. A bit about me:
“I think it’s healthy to have a place to jot down thoughts, to organize them, and thereby begin making sense of them holistically.”
- I’m 26
- I work full time as an Operations Specialist for a nonprofit community center (logistics, schedules, processes, etc.)
- I own a small business with a friend and business partner, working in sales and marketing
- I’m a musician
- I’m an avid sports (specifically football) fan
- I love learning and exploring new things
- I enjoy videography, editing, and content creation (Youtube creator)
- I enjoy exercise, especially outdoors (cycling currently)
- I enjoy video games
- I enjoy investing in relationships, and spending time with my friends
- I’m always seeking to find new ways to grow and improve
- I’m newly married
- I live in Arkansas (woo pig, Walmart, lots of trees, etc.)
So, being a logistics-focused, entrepreneurial-minded, sports and entertainment-loving guy in my mid 20’s, I’m often finding myself in new situations, constantly trying to soak in new knowledge, understanding, skills, and (hopefully) wisdom. I often call myself part of the “broken nose” club, for all the times I fail and seem to fall right on my face. But in every failure, there is opportunity for growth. In every new situation, there is opportunity for learning and adventure. In every book you read, relationship you forge, job or task you tackle, activity you partake in, and experience you have, there is opportunity for reflection.
So that’s really how I would define this blog: “Opportunity for Reflection.” It’s an archive of my thoughts, to reference later and learn from. It’s a place to slow down, to unscramble the overflowing bin of “new” in life. And ideally, it’s a place where many of you may find something big or small or take and run (or walk) with, in your own opportunity for reflection.
